※[A lattice-based approach to physical-layer index coding]主講人：黃昱智 博士，台北大學通訊系，

Bio: Yu-Chih Huang received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 2013. He was a postdoctoral research associate at TAMU from 2013 to 2015. Since February 2015, he has been with the Department of Communication Engineering, National Taipei University, Taiwan, where he is currently an assistant professor. In 2012, he spent the summer as a research intern in Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent. His research interests are in information theory, network information theory, lattice coding theory, and 5G communications.

Abstract: This talk discusses broadcast channels (BC) with receiver message side information, a fundamental building block of network information/communication theory. While index coding in the network layer has been shown promising for the network-layer version of this problem and has successfully attracted a lot of attention recently, its physical layer counterpart remains far less discussed. Since traditional physical-layer coding does not take side information into account and index coding in the network layer does not bear characteristics of the physical-layer wireless medium in mind, cross-layer code designs are called for to effectively exploit the properties of the both layers. In this talk, we will first review the recent success by Natarajan, Hong, and Viterbo of constructing good physical-layer index codes from lattice partitions. We will then discuss an extension of this lattice-partition approach to a general ring of algebraic integers. Finally, if time permits, another extension that partitions the golden division algebra for constructing good space-time index codes will be discussed.
